Sorting by Date

Message par angiek »

Steevo:

I've come across a problem with sorting my list of courses by approval date.

It appears that when sorting, it is only applying to the current displayed page of items, not the full list. When I sort by my approval date parameter and navigate to the next page, all the sorting disappears.

Also, I have the field defined as a date, using the standard U.S. display format of M.D.Y.

But I think when it's sorting, it's using the display format as it's sorting template. Thus, it's sorting first by month, then day, then year. I need items to be sorted by year, then month, then date.

Am I missing something here? Can you help me get this field to sort properly? It is one of the parameters that my client originally requested. You can see what I am talking about here:

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

You're right, it's sorting as if the field was a simple field. I'm going to modify that.

I see the problem when you change the page.

I will propose a fix next week.

Hi,

I just release 0.4.1 to fix it.
Before update, you should save database because this release make modification in collector tables.
You don't have to uninstall old version. Update is automatic.

For your problem when you change page, you should change a parameter in the link menu.
Say "no" to "erase last search".
This will fix the problem but to display all list, you will have to click on reset button in search area.
I have to work on it.

Steevo:

I installed the new version, as you instructed. Unfortunately, it's reset all my dates in my entries.

No worries, we will work to put them back properly.

However, before I spend the time doing this ...

Should we wait until you have the rest of the work completed with the second part and I've installed the rest of the fix?

Or can we move forward with fixing the dates without a second round of having to fix them?

We don't mind waiting. We just don't want to fix something twice.

Sorry about that. Is your server under windows ?

You can fix dates. This part work (you can check with several dates) and next release will not update this part so no risk to erase dates.

For 0.4.1, i have to modify values format in database, so there was a risk.

Did you save your database before update as i said ? If yes, can you give me the file to check what append ?

Unfortunately, I was unable to save the database. My host's save/export function is archaic, to put it in the best light, and I got so frustrated with trying to back up, I just updated finally without the backup.

I didn't realize you needed to see it. What should I do?

Anyway, it didn't mess up anything except the date field. Everything else is fine.

Please let me know what you need from me.

Thanks for letting me know.

We'll redo the dates. It's no big deal to us. Thank you again for your help.
