Asking your advice

Message par angiek »

I am asking your advice because you know this component so much better than I.

You saw my work thus far with the AMI site http://amiwebupload.phpwebhosting.com/i ... 2&Itemid=2

I am now working on adding all our instructors and the owners of the classes.

In your opinion, would it be better to create a new "collection" for each of these groups, or would it be better to add in the specific information for each of these groups under one "master" collection?

The information to be added can be found on these pages:

http://amionline.org/catalog/instructors/index.htm and then the subpages here

http://amionline.org/catalog/owner/index.htm - same here with subpages.

We have already added in the owners' names and the instructors' names to the first collection we started. Can we add into one master collection and then create new layout templates to view just what we need?

Or should I use a different component altogether, such as Joomla's built-in Contact component?

I am not asking you to do any work, just give my your opinion on if your component can handle the task.

Thank you again for your hard work.

Hi,

I think that it would be easier to create an one collection for instructors and another one for owners.

In a future version, when templates management will be full operational, you will replace in your course collection the field instructor "defined list" by type "item" and select item in the instructors collection. So you could have a direct link between your collections.

Thanks so much for the advice.

I may be back for some help in setting up the other displays for the other collections, but I'm getting the hang of your extension.

I look forward to future releases!
